The difference between PVC and PE pipes
The differences between PVC pipes and PE pipes are as follows: 1. raw materials, 2. performance, 3. toughness, and 4. thermal conductivity.
1. Differences in raw materials
Polyethylene is the main raw material for PVC pipes, generally divided into hard PVC pipes and soft PVC pipes. Hard PVC pipes are easy to form and have good physical properties, while soft PVC pipes have poor physical properties and limited usage range.
Polyethylene is the main raw material for PE pipes, which mainly exhibits advantages such as low temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. Mainly used for municipal drainage, water supply pipelines, and various agricultural and construction pipelines. It is an important pipeline that replaces steel pipes and iron pipes.
2. Performance differences
PE pipes have the characteristics of low construction cost, high stability, strong softness, crack resistance, and corrosion resistance. However, the flexibility of PVC pipes is not sufficient and their mechanical strength is high. Although they are resistant to high temperatures, they cannot withstand impacts, so they are mainly used for wire conduits, residential drainage, fresh air systems, and so on.

3. Differences in resilience
PE pipes have strong toughness and can be delivered through coils, which is simple and fast, but lacks rigidity. Therefore, PE pipes will be used for municipal trenching and burying. Its toughness can reduce the reduction of concrete pipelines, but due to its variability, pipelines are not aesthetically pleasing and are rarely used in residential pipelines.
Although the toughness of PVC pipes is poor, their stiffness is strong, which can ensure the straightness and aesthetics of the pipes. However, they are prone to fragility and low expansion coefficient during transportation.
4. Differences in thermal conductivity
Compared to PE pipes, PVC pipes have a higher density and a thermal conductivity twice that of PVC pipes. Therefore, PE pipes are suitable for floor heating, while PVC pipes are more suitable for hot water transportation, ensuring that the temperature is not absorbed or reduced.
